Hello everyone! It’s been a long time on here since I’ve been putting a lot of my efforts into our first real game release… Gastrocove
Gastrocove is a simulation game about producing and transporting products to ports on a tropical island.
There are various spawners on the island which produce raw ingredients such as coconuts and pineapples. The player has a set of 4 tools that they can use in order to create products and transport them to the ports on the coast.
With the exception of the container, each tool has a cost associated with it and part of the challenge in Gastrocove is using the appropriate tool to achieve a specific goal.
- Containers – all products must be delivered to ports inside a container. Raw products (e.g. pineapples) get into a container using another tool, the Combiner
- Combiner – the combiner takes up to 3 input products (ingredients) and creates a new product from those, for example, pineapples + rum + coconuts = pina colada. It always spits the produced product out in a container. You can also just supply a single product e.g. pineapples to a combiner in order to put it in a container. It should be noted that if the combination of ingredients doesn’t produce a valid product, that a single empty container will be produced.
- Belt – the conveyor belt is used to move products from point A to point B. You can see this in the image below a little bit. Belts have a pushing force so that they can push blocks on top of other containers. Belts can only move an object that is on top of it a single space each turn.
- Teleporter – the teleporter is the final tool. The teleporter is also used for movement but the teleporter operates instantly and can be chained together. So you could theoretically transport a good from one end of the island to another immediately however Teleporters have an increased cost which may make them less effective depending upon the situation.
Gastrocove is being developed for competition in https://thegdwc.com/ and will be released on Steam towards the end of the year.
Expect to see more posts about Gastrocove in the upcoming months and also follow along with development on TIGSource https://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=64402.0
